NCOA Processing: Do you need 18 month or 48 month processing?
The USPS NCOAlink (national change of address processing) product has two types of licensees. There are numerous Limited service providers that can only provide NCOA Processing for up to 18 months but there are only 22 full licensees that can provide 48 month processing. There is a free way to tell how far back you need to go.
www.FreeNCOA.com provides a free change of address report that breaks out the number of moves in the 0-18 month category and the 19-48 month categories. This way you can see how far back you need to go before selecting an NCOA provider to update your file. Depending on the last time you ran NCOA you may only need to run the 0-18 month process.
If you are mailing your postal file regularly it is recommended that you update your file through NCOA every 90 days. Over 40 million people move a year and NCOA can help you and the post office save money on undeliverable mail cutting unnecessary printing and postage cost.
NCOA processing is a no-brainer for all direct mailers to run and required by the post office to get postal discounts. There are two types of NCOA providers: Full providers which go back 48 months and Limited providers which only go back 18 months. All NCOALink processing is provided by a non-exclusive licensee of the United States Postal Service. Good luck cleaning up your next list.
